In 1998, the Furby came out. It was the first big hit "animatronic" style toy since, I suppose, Teddy Ruxpen back in the 80s. I recently tried to get my old Furby going, and found it dead. It seems this is a common problem, and relates to the gears being jammed. I put up a quick article on how to get it going again without taking the thing apart, and wanted to link it here to boost google search results to the site. (It's already showing up on the first page, so maybe it doesn't need any help.)
