5:40 AM - The Magic Kingdom for Roller Coaster Tycoon (posted by

I have a recreation of The Magic Kingdom in Florida that I have been working on using the Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 theme park simulation game.
You can see a screen shot gallery at:

Claimed to be "the most realistic WDW creation for RCT2 on the Internet," the technology in Rollercoaster Tycoon always makes things look like Legoland ;-) Here's Cinderella Castle, for example. (Hmmm, I wonder if someone has done Legoland ni RCT? Prolly...)
I, of course, was trying to find the Haunted Mansion, but it's not there yet (in the screen shots, at least).
For other 3-D recreations of Disney parks, there are two level conversions for Duke Nukem 3-D floating around as well (one that is a game map that has New Orleans Square with Pirates and the Mansion, as well as Tomorrowland, and the other is just a 3-D recreation of the Mansion). You can also find a VRML (virtual reality HTML language, basically) recreation of WDW at http://vrwdw.tripod.com/
Sounds like an idea for a good Disney fan website just tracking the various approaches to recreating our favorite theme parks ;-)

8:59 PM - I'm going to Disneyland! (posted by
Allen
)
Although I still haven't gotten the 1900+ photos up from our August excursion to the Disneyland Resort, I hope to before I make another quick trip out there in early December. Due to frequent flyer mile limitations and such, my trip is going to be rather abrupt -- arriving after parks close on Wednesday, then getting all day Thursday and Friday and returning home on Saturday afternoon (sigh, no way without spending $450 to get a return flight on Sunday, but oh well). This will be my third trip on this annual pass, and all have used frequent flyer miles so it's been a very cheap year for DL vacations.
Next year, I gotta start paying for all this ;-) Oh well. More details later.
