Walt Disney World's The Magic Kingdom |
Only at Disneyland, but The Magic Kingdom has the much grander Hall of Presidents. | |
In 1964 Walt Disney amazed audiences at the New York World's Fair with the first human animatronic. Mr. Lincoln soon took up residence at Disneyland in the Opera House on Main Street. The original speech was made up of different lines taken from various speeches Lincoln actually gave. The attraction received a technology update in the 1980s and then, in late 2001, an all new show was created which featured 3-D sound. The audience wears headphones to experience the performance. The new show title is "The Road to Gettysburg". Trivia: The headphone technology was first used at the Disney/MGM Studios in sound booths. The Studio would later experiment with a Drew Carey attraction that used this technique. Disneyland received the latest version of the system, this time using infrared wireless headphones. |
