I find it interesting that today it is easier for me to dub a copy of my home videos on DVD than it is to make a copy onto VHS. If you'd care to donate to this web site, I'd be happy to dub you off a copy.
7/5/2007: Check out the lower "suggested donation" prices -- $7 (well, more for the one with the 3-D glasses).
I 2002 I picked up one of the new Apple iMac (flat panel) computers with the SuperDrive that can make video DVDs! It's really something. Here is a sample from my first projects. Everything on these DVDs came 100% from my Sony digital camera and camcorder. No bootleg source tracks or anything like that is contained on them. These are simply copies of my home videos from a vacation.
BEFORE READING ANY FURTHER: Not all DVD players can play DVD-Rs (though all DVD drive computers should be able to). I currently use Verbatim 4X printable media, which has so far proven to be very reliable (I have yet to have anyone say they couldn't play it).
NEXT: Feel free to check my eBay Feedback comments to see what others have thought about these discs. Honestly, they are just archives of my home video stuff so please don't expect more than what you'd see if you came over and I showed you the tape from my vacation :-)
December 2003: If you want to see the movie clips first, check out my video server. I have over 400MB of movie files. If you can't (or don't want to) download them, drop me an e-mail and I can get you a copy of the files on CD-R (as long as you pay shipping/media/handling).
UPDATED: Same video, but re-encoded with fancier menus, scene selects, better encoding and an easter egg (two, actually)! After digging through my Epcot archives, I found the full Buzz Lightyear show from Tomorrowland and a new Night Vision Pirates ride thru from 2003. If you can find them, two easter egg clips from DCA are also there. Start out by listening to the Disneyland Band then check out a Rope Drop at the end of Main Street. Heading over to Fantasyland you can ride Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio (including a Night Vision version), Snow White (also including a Night Vision version), and even the Carousel. In Toontown there is Roger Rabbit. Over in New Orleans Square a boat awaits for the Pirates of the Caribbean. Hop aboard in Tomorrowland to take a train ride through Grand Canyon/Primeval World.

UPDATED: Same video, but re-encoded with fancier menus, scene selects, better encoding and an easter egg! After digging through my Epcot archives, I found Future World videos from Universe of Energy (30 seconds of the Ellen Animatronic), The Land (the full Food Rocks show and the full Living with the Land boat ride/tour), the complete Journey into YOUR Imagination ride (the redo version that opened in 1999; not the original or the current redone redo version), a trip to the Living Seas (including clips from the preshow, the elevators and the trip to Seabase Alpha), and a complete ride through Spaceship Earth. From World Showcase, both rides: Mexico's River of Time boat cruise and Norway's Maelstrom boat adventure.

UPDATED: Same video, but re-encoded with fancier menus, scene selects, better encoding and an easter egg! This disc contains the following sequences: Fantasmic Hollywood from start to finish, including one of those nice large light poles sorta in the way just like being there. It's still decent and a great way to compare this to the original Disneyland version. The Great Movie Ride is almost fully intact, missing only the movie sequence at the end and the chattering of other riders is only slightly annoying. The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is totally intact, except for the half hour they spend at the start recruiting extras. Lastly, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid is there from start to end including a few cool minutes here and there where I turned on the NightVision mode to see the puppeteers doing their amazing work. This is very cool. That's all that would fit on this disc, so there you have it.

I video taped Haunted Mansion Holiday, it's a small world holiday, and the Christmas Parade in 3-D. Using LCD shutter glasses, the video turned out really good (especially the parade and small world). Using software, I converted them to old-style red/blue anaglyph (like the 1950s horror movies used ;) so I can show this video to folks who don't have the fancy LCD shutter glasses. To download clips, visit http://3d.disneyfans.com. If you need 3-D glasses, send me $1 and a self-addressed stamped envelope and I'll send you two pairs of the cheap blue/red kind (note: most 3-D uses red/blue, so you have to fold these glasses backwards to see most 3-D stuff).
Got your Spy Kids 3-D glasses handy? Put them on and take a look at this image! Download the entire video here (320x240). NOTE: this is a ride through with the camera facing AHEAD the entire way, so it only sees what is in front (no panning around left and right). |
$10 donation to DisneyFans. DVD and two pair of 3-D blue/red paper glasses will be shipped Priority Mail. (Add .50 for each extra pair of paper 3-D glasses you want, or contact me if you'd rather have high-quality plastic frame glasses.) (Sorry, I am not able to make discs at this time.) |
I just put together a new compilation. Basically, this is just all my Haunted Mansion and Pirates footage from Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom on one disc. It's 90 minutes of stuff, and has chapter markers (which I couldn't make with the old DVD software I was using).

I put together a new home movie DVD which contains ride-thru video from several Magic Kingdom attractions from 1999. It includes 48 minutes of video from Caribbean Plaza (Pirates of the Caribbean in Night Vision), Fantasyland (it's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Adventure, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), and Tomorrowland (Tomorrowland Transit Authority). There is a (non-animated) main menu that leads to a separate menu for each section. Each land section contains animated buttons for the individual videos.

During December 2001 I visited Disneyland and spent most of my time riding through the amazing Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction. I video taped the entire ride twice on my Sony Digital8 camcorder and then archived these movies to video DVD-R. I also took dozens of photos (inside and out) and put them on the disc in slide shows. The main menu contains audio from the queue (crowd noises and background music) and it has two animated buttons for the videos, and two other buttons which lead to self-paced slide shows of my photos.

8/21/2002: After going through the rest of my 1999 Walt Disney World home videos I found more footage to backup to DVD. I have 58 1/2 minutes of new stuff including Tomorowland: The full Buzz Lightyear ride, Cosmic Ray's Sonny Eclipse animatronic singing a number or two, and the Space Mountain Queue with the pre- and post show areas. Over in Adventureland there is the Tiki Room: Under New Management with some of the preshow birds and the entire show down to the last bit of dialog before the show resets (with the last gag/tribute to the original version) and the Jungle Cruise taped very badly from the far end of the boat. It's just like being there! You can't see anything but people around you! Over in Liberty Square are three segments: Haunted Mansion in NightVision (with some zooming around at interesting things), Outside the Mansion with a quick look around the area, and Stuck in the Graveyard, a few minutes of NightVision fun when the ride stopped in front of the graveyard band. Like the other discs, it contains multiple menus with background music and animated buttons.

If you want to get copies of more than one of my home movie DVDs, please contact me -- it's cheaper to ship multiple discs at the same time. Also, to save even more I can ship normal mail instead of priority mail.
